Welcome To Hoa Binh

Hoa Binh is a mountainous province in the northwest of Vietnam. Nature has given Hoa Binh many interesting landscapes such as: Trai cave (Lac Son), Dong Noi cave (Lac Thuy), … with vestiges of Hoa Binh culture, and villages of Thai people (Lac village). Poom Coong village in Mai Chau), Muong people (Giang Mo and Cao Phong villages). Kim Boi mineral water spring (Kim Boi) is both a tourist destination, a nursing home, and a valuable source of raw materials for the beverage industry.

Destination Highlights

  • Muong Cultural Space:

Derived from the deep inspiration of a young painter with the desire to recreate the entire living space of the Muong people. After 10 years of collecting and nearly 1 year of construction. On December 16, 2007, the Museum of “Muong Cultural Space” opened and officially came into operation. The museum is located on a hillside in a small, narrow limestone valley with an area of 5ha, 7km from Hoa Binh city center towards Son La (located on a new road named Tay Tien Street). This was originally the living area of the ancient Muong people. The Museum “Muong Cultural Space” is the first private museum about the culture of the Muong ethnic group, an ethnic group with a long cultural tradition in the great family of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

  • Mai Chau

In Mai Chau, the first attraction is Thung Khe Pass or Da Trang Pass, located on National Highway 6, between Tan Lac and Mai Chau territories. This is a limestone mountain, created by the process of paving the way. This is also a place often covered by clouds, forming a blurry scene like a white snow in winter. Visitors should only come here on sunny days, to take beautiful photos and not be dangerous during travel.

If you want to learn about local culture, you should not miss Lac village, where there are hundreds of stilt houses up to 700 years old. It also has a scene of endless rice fields and homestays on stilts to stay.

Dining

  • Ca kep thanh tre

Ca kep thanh tre (Bamboo stick fish), grilled on a charcoal stove. Which is an easy-to-find specialty on the way to Thac Bo cave. The flesh of the fish is firm, sweet and fragrant with the smell of charcoal grilling and a faint scent of banana and bamboo.

  • Ga nau mang chua

Ga nau mang chua (Chicken cooked with sour bamboo shoots), doi seeds are also specialties of Hoa Binh. The chicken often chosen to cook bamboo shoot soup is hill chicken, tough and fragrant. Chicken is simmered with sour bamboo shoots and added doi seeds, with a pungent, aromatic flavor.

  • Cao Phong Orange

On the way from Thung Nai back to the city, you can see some banana, orange, and corn orchards on the way. In there, a Cao Phong orange orchard on the right attracts passersby with its gentle hillside and juicy oranges. You can buy it as a gift and then you are free to take pictures in the garden.

Accommodation

Like many other tourist lands, the system of accommodation facilities in Hoa Binh is quite complete. The system of hotels and motels stretches, located in all districts, so on the journey to discover Hoa Binh, you can stop and rest anywhere without having to worry about not having a place to stay.

Hoa Binh was one of the first places where homestay services thrived, especially in Mai Chau. Homestays in Hoa Binh are usually built according to the model of a dormitory on stilts. Where guests and hosts all live in the same common spaces. When you need to eat and drink, you can always book the host’s house so that they can prepare it for you.

Transportation

From Hanoi, visitors can go by bus from My Dinh, Giap Bat and Yen Nghia bus stations. Limousine brings privacy, more comfort, you can contact travel companies to rent a car. Besides, the route to Hanoi – Hoa Binh is now very easy to find and has a beautiful road. So visitors can also try the self-sufficient driving experience by motorbike or car.

Season:

With a large area and many scenic spots, visitors can come to Hoa Binh in any season with different experiences. Usually tourists in Hanoi like to go to Hoa Binh in the summer, many destinations such as Mai Chau, Thung Nai. Because of cool and crisp weather.

May-June will hold tourists back by the golden rice season in Mai Chau. May-August is the season when the water of the Da River in Thung Nai is clear… Do not forget to visit Kim Boi hot mineral spring in winter. Or visit Lung Van in the spring when hundreds of flowers bloom, white mist covers the houses of the Muong halfway up the mountain.
